Once you have achieved the status what’s next?

There are a whole variety of options available, one of the key ones being teacher training. Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) offer foundation degrees that may be a useful next step to extend your learning. You may feel that you don’t want to study further and want to focus on your role within school. Many Local Authorities offer INSET that will support you in your role, including leadership and management training.

At some schools the roles and development options for HLTAs are limited. Once you have HLTA status is stays with you whichever school you work at and you may find opportunities in other schools that are more suited to developing your skills as a HLTA.
