Aldbury Primary School HLTA
My role as a HLTA I deliver PSHE while providing PPA time for two classes. I also deliver the Early Literacy Strategy and provide some of the cover when teachers are ill or on courses.
When I started at the school, there were only 2 TAs, now there is a team of seven and I am the Team Leader. Being an HLTA helps me in this role.
What has HLTA status meant? I wasn't sure about HLTA to begin with, as I was already doing a lot and wasn't sure what it would add but I am very proud of my HLTA status: it gives me confidence and helps me feel 'I can do this and I can do it well!' |

Rose McNeill My career path to HLTA.
Getting involved at school
I trained as a bi-lingual secretary and worked in sales administration before having my children.
I started as a part-time TA, moving around all of the classes and helping with administration. After supporting a child with Asperger's Syndrome, I became full-time and concentrated on KS1.
Becoming a HLTA I took on the role gradually - covering classes for a short time and contributing to teachers' plans. | |
